What is a Mini Face Lift?
A mini Face Lift is a procedure that lifts the sagging skin, due to aging, in the lower part of the face.
Why choose a Mini Lift?
Due to aging the skin loses elasticity and becomes lax. Patients experience a loss of definition in their jaw, their skin sags, jowls and neck bands appear, nasiolabial folds, bitterness folds and smile lines are more visible.

What’s the purpose of a Mini Lift?
This plastic surgery of the neck and face aims at correcting skin sagging in the lower part of the face and neck with less scars and a shorter recovery time than a traditional face lift.
A Mini lift gives a more youthful and refreshed appearance and a natural look.
What to expect from a Mini Face Lift?
A Mini Face Lift doesn’t change the shape or the aspect of the face.
Only the skin is pulled contrary to a traditional facelift. This is why recovery is easier and faster.
The face is rejuvenated in a natural way and doesn’t look pulled or tight or expressionless as could be seen before.
Excess fat can be removed with a liposuction.
Loss of fat can be treated with a combined lipofilling that rejuvenates the face, restores the shapes, and improves the quality of the skin.
THE STAGES OF INTERVENTION OF A MINILIFT
BEFORE MINI FACE LIFT SURGERY:
- Two preoperative consultations with a board-certified plastic surgeon will be conducted as well as a consultation with an anesthetist.
- Before and after comparison photographs will be taken.
- A compression press-lift will be prescribed.
- Preoperative instructions are as follow:
- Quit smoking at least one month minimum before the surgery to one month after the surgery to reduce any complications and avoid necrosis risk.
- Stop birth control pill one month before to avoid increased risk of thromboembolism.
- Discontinue any anti-platelet or blood-thinning medication 15 days before the surgery.
MINI FACE LIFT SURGERY:
- The surgery may be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia.
- It lasts 1 to 2 hours depending on the technique.
- Dr Vincent Nguyen uses the most advanced surgical techniques and performs the surgery himself.
The final outcome is visible after about 3 months after the surgery but the physical change is immediately obvious. As the aging process continues over time it is sometimes useful to help prolong your mini lift rejuvenating benefits with esthetic medicine (peelings, Botox injections, Hyaluronic acid injections, laser, …)
AFTER MINI FACE LIFT SURGERY:
- Recovery is faster and easier for a Mini Face Lift than for a cervico-facial facelift.
- Patients may go home the same day.
- You may expect bruising and swelling the following days.
- You may resume social activities 5 to 10 days after the surgery.
- No nursing care is required after the procedure.
- You may have a shower the next day but do not take a bath before a month.
- Avoid direct sun exposure on the scars for one year at least.
- Follow-up consultations will be planned with Dr Vincent Nguyen (1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and a year after the procedure).

- As a Mini Face Lift is an esthetic procedure, it is not covered by Social Security or Health Insurance Company.

Can I get another Mini lift later if needed?
Yes, you can get another Mini lift or a cervico-facial lift if your skin needs to be lifted and tightened.
What is the difference with a Soft Lift?
There is no difference. It’s just another name for a Minilift.
Where are the scars for a Mini Face Lift?
The incision lines are hidden in the hair (at the temples and on the back of the neck) and around the ears. (see picture)
Thus the scars are inconspicuous.
May a Mini Face Lift be combined with other procedures?
Many other procedures may be combined with a Mini lift: eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), drooping eyebrows and crow’s wrinkles (temporal lift), loss of skin firmness and brow wrinkles (brow lift).
A Mini lift may also be combined with non-invasive procedures and esthetic medicine procedures (laserbrasion, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, Hyaluronic acid injections, Botulinum toxin injections, PRP).
A neck liposuction and/ or a face lipofilling, to enhance the face, may be done with a Mini Face Lift. It is almost essential to obtain a natural rejuvenated appearance because over time, the fat in the face decreases and the face may appear gaunt and hollow, making patients look older. Fat restores youthful fullness and improves the quality of the skin and radiance.
